Toasty Thoughts on American Hustle

Since I am a fan of seeing movies that are nominated for awards (you know, like the SAG's, Golden Globes and of course the Oscars), I decided to step out and see what all the bustle was about American Hustle.

American Hustle is about...hustling.  Sp...Sp...Softy Spoilers coming ahead folks...Essentially, you have a love story between two hustlers (Christian Bale and Amy Adams) and during their hustling they get caught by the FBI (Bradley Cooper).  The hustlers are offered immunity if they agree to work with the Fibbie's to reel in a few more bad guys out there on the streets, including the Mayor of Camden, played by Jeremy Renner and a big mobster, Robert De Niro.

Christian Bale was fantastic in this movie, as he is in most movies.  The comb over hair style was great.  What is wonderful about Christian in this movie, is that I feel a strong vulnerability from him. In real life, many do not think Bale is vulnerable or humble to say the least.  However, his love for Amy's character was truly believable and moving.   In my opinion, he surely deserves his award nod. Amy Adams was great in this movie too.  She is one beautiful woman who can act her butt off and she surely deserves her award nod as well.   Now, I love me some Jennifer Lawrence and boy did she have a funny role in this film.  However, I don't feel her role is strong enough for an award nod.  But then again, I felt the same way with Silver Linings Playbook and look where that went..."and the Oscar goes to..."  Speaking of SLP, Bradley Cooper was hilarious in this role.  He is a good comedic actor.  Good is the word here.  Not great.

Overall, the film showcases well some of the hustling that went down in lovely decades before us.  And we get good dose of Robert De Niro.

Kayla here at The Trendy Toast gives this movie at B+.
